Bring your own AI to Topliner

The Topliner chat knows your searches, mappings and people. Claude and ChatGPT didn’t: to ask one of them about a search, you pasted a profile in and copied the answer back out.

Now any AI app that supports MCP, the open standard for connecting AI apps to other software, works in Topliner: Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Perplexity, Le Chat, Cursor and more. Ask it about the people you’ve interviewed, check what a search already covers, or have it update a list straight after a call. It answers from Topliner and makes the change there, as you and with exactly your permissions.

Ask about the people you’ve met

Ask the way you would ask a colleague. Your AI app searches your interview notes in Topliner and answers with the people who fit and the lines from your notes that show why.

In Claude: a question about your own interviews, answered from your notes in Topliner.

See what a search already covers

Before you call into a company, ask whether the search has it covered. Your AI app reads every mapping of the search and its pipeline, so one answer says who was identified, how they were tiered and who is on the longlist.

In ChatGPT: every mapping of the search and its pipeline, in one answer.

Update Topliner straight after a call

Say what you want done. Your AI app finds the person in Topliner and adds them to your list, or logs the call on their profile. Topliner asks it to check with you before it changes anything.

In Claude: it checks with you, then makes the change in Topliner.

Everything the chat can do

These three are a start. A connected app gets the same tools as the Topliner chat: it also reads a mapping with its companies and scores, moves a candidate on a search, writes to the Data Room and logs activity on a profile. It works in one space at a time and can switch to any space you belong to. Your team’s skills are there too, in the apps that support them.

One thing works differently. In the Topliner chat, some changes wait for you to press Confirm, rejecting a candidate for one. An AI app has no such button, so Topliner tells it which actions change or delete data, and the app can ask you before it takes one.

Connect your AI app in a minute

Open Settings → Connections and pick your app under AI apps: Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code or another one. Its steps come with the address to copy and say where it goes in that app. The app sends you to Topliner: sign in as usual, read what the app will be able to do, and press Allow access.

The app then appears under AI apps, with when it was connected, when it was last used and which space it works in. Disconnect cuts it off at once.

Follow your app’s steps, copy the address, and allow access.

Available now

AI apps work for everyone on your team who can use the Topliner chat. Your address and the steps for each app are in Settings → Connections.

Your AI app can see and change only what you can. To take an app’s access away, press Disconnect next to it in Settings; it stops working at once.
